Yosemite National Park, Part 1, Oct 28-29, 2012

\We left Reno on Rt 395 on Sunday, Oct. 28, heading for Lee Vining and Yosemite!  Hoorah!  This was like a super highway all the way to Carson City.
According to Terry Ruppert, Jim's cousin, this was a very controversial bridge because of the high cost and overruns due to the size and high winds which come through this canyon.  I don't know whether you can see the car on it for scale.

This has to be a skiing mountain if you look and see the ski runs.

This is a nice little ranch house.  I love the warap-around porches.

This eagle sculpture was near Carson City, on one of the overpasses.  It was huge.

We are heading up into the mountains.

I believe this is Topaz Lake, Neveada, near the California border.

This is pretty fall color!
\This is the quaint courthouse in Bridgeport, California.

One of the business in town really liked to decorate for Halloween.

I love the aspen trees in color.

This is the edge of Mono Lake which is near Lee Vining, where we stayed two nights in an RV park, outside Yosemite.
We drove the Jeep into the western entrance of Yosemite on Rt 120.  This road was quite scary the first 12 miles where it rose 8.000 feet, sometimes in a 15 % grade.

Here we are starting up to Tioga Pass at just under 10.000 feet/

It is very hard to capture scele with a camera.

There was snow when we got close to the top.  They often close this part of the park on November 1st,

I think this is Ellery Lake, in the Alpine region of the park.

Here we are!  Can't beat the scenery!  (I meant us, ha,ha!)
