San Juan Capistrano Part 1

Near San Clemente and Jim's brother's home is San Juan Capistrano.  We decided to tour it before heading back to Salt Lake City.  This shot is of the modern end of the mission.

One gate we looked through as we walked to the entrance had this pretty iron gate and nice flower covered walkway.  I believe the current friars, or whatever they are called, use it; the public does not.

These cacti were gowin the the bed near the entrance.

This is one of their blooms.

This now is part of the old mission.  I love the od brick & stucco.

This is the olove mill stone.  See sign below.

These are interior shots of the mission.  It is obviously Spanish.

These are two different bed heights.

I loved the iron work.  Look at this door handle.

They had flowers everywhere!

This cart hauled wine and or water, etc.

This shows how the ceilings were constructed.

In 1845, the last governor of Mexico, Pio Pico, sold this mission and it's lands to his brother-in-law, Don Juan Forster, for $750.00. It was valued at $55,00 in 1846!  Shows what corruption will do! The Forster family lived here for 20 years after converting many rooms into bedrooms and adding ammenties such as fireplaces.

This was a Friars bedroom.

This shows the more comfortable furnishings of the Forsters.
