Several of us from The Training Zone plus Elder & Sister Paylin, from USCanada Zone, went to the Logan Temple on Friday, May 25th. We had a fun trip even though it rained some on the way up and the way down from Logan. Logan is a 85 mile trip one way from Salt Lake City.
If you are from my hometown in Ohio, you know about Mantua. Well, they liked the name and use it out here in the mountains as we travel over the pass to Logan.
This is another shot of the highway and the mountains. Notice how small some of the distant trucks and cars are; it will give you an idea of the size of these mountains.
These beautiful flowers at the temple grounds were there in May but were gone in June when we returned with Adam and Jessica Chevrier, our grandson and his wife. The plants may have been there but the flowers were gone.
The Logan temple was completed by the saints before the Salt Lake Temple. Our family had a chanced to tour it in the 70's when we stopped here on a trip. We were walking around the temple, which was under renovation and we met the Temple President, who took us on a private tour. The inside woodwork trim reminded us of the Kirtland Temple. Sadly, they did not retain that colonial white woodwork, when they renovated again, recently.
Perry Paylor is holding their ice cream cones while her husband takes a phone call. The mural on the wall depicted the history of Logan.
Heading back to SLC we saw this old farm which actually is a heritage site, open to the public with all sorts of period activities.
It is quite a beautiful valley. Even though this area is out of our 60 mile circle we are allowed while on the mission, they extened the area to include this temple. I am sure glad they did.
