Watson Lake, BC to Whitehorse,Yukon

June 16, 2009. We left Watson Lake and headed to Whitehorse, our first town in the Yukon.

This is the famous "Sign Post Forest in Watson Lake. People from all over the world add either their hometown sign here or their own personal name on a sign. It was started by a soldier in World War II who was homesick & erected his hometown sign with the mileage on it. We did not add Waleska to it, or our names. "A fool's name & his face are often seen in public places."..or something like that.

I am also fascinated with bridges. This one is over the Swift River, heading north.

Here is one of the beautiful views of the Cassier Mountains.

This is another bridge, this one over the Little Rancheria River. You can tell by the road that it is not very good. The road from Watson Lake to Whitehorse was not the best with some spots that were even gravel.

This is another view of the beautiful Cassier Mountains. There are so many snow capped and glaciated mountains on this trip that I have to label my photos as soon as I take them or I will not keep up!

This is Jim by a diamond drill mechanism on the top of Silver Mountain where the continental divide for the Bearing Sea and the Artic Ocean is. (Excuse the poor English!)

While we were at the Contintal Divide on Silver Mountain a truck went by brushing the street of dust. This was unusual because all through the Alcan highway, so far, it seems that all they have is dust & dirt. It seems very dry. Most of the RV parks are just gravel parking lots, often with just electricity and water. We dump waste water and fill up on fresh when we leave. Her is Lynda in front of the lodeg at the Continental Divide. Jim was able to get a great slice of rhubarb pie here, his favorite! I had to have a cinnamon roll, but should have had a slimfast instead! (HA, HA)This is Simpson Peak, the perfectly formed pyramid shaped mountain. It is on the way to Teslin. I timed the photo all wrong to get the tree right in the middle of the peak! Oh well, at least you can imagine how the peak should be. :-)
This is the beautiful Nitsulin Bridge over the river of the same name, coming into Teslin. Teslin is a very pretty area. Isn't this bridge incredible?
