Jasper, Alberta to Dawson Creek, British Columbia

Friday, June 12, 2009

We left the town of Jasper (In Jasper National Park) and headed east on Rt 16 to pick up Rt 40 going north to Grande Prairie and eventually Dawson City for the night.

This is our first pretty scene with the Canadian Rockies up ahead.
Here is Rock Lake going north on Rt 40. Rockies in background

Another photo of Rock Lake.
It is hard to show perspective, but here the road goes for a long way and then tops a hill. This is north of Grande Cache, a high coal mining town.

This was a really old barn north of Grande Cache.

These are bull elks in an Elk Farm north of Grande Cache.

In Grande Prairie, we picked up Rt 43 and headed west. We are still in Alberta. These are log cabins taken over by the Historical Society.

This is a really old barn, still in use, going west on Rt 43 toward Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
