Banff National Park

Tuesday, June 9th, we drove into Banff and stayed at the Tunnel Mountain RV Park. We were able to have electricity & water for the "bargain price" of $32.30 a night! This is a national park-run campground. This shows the view we had from our RV. Maybe that was worth the price! We had an incredible view from each window in the front & one side.

This mountain is Castle Mountain. Can you see why?
Banff National Park makes these special "walk overs" for wildlife to be able to cross the road safely. They put grass & trees on them and have fences on the sides.

This is a mountain scene, one of many, in Banff National Park. This was on Wednesday, June 10th. We were driving north in Banff on the main highway.
The rivers in Banff all seem to have a light green-blue color to them; vermillion, I believe. Every turn had a picture post card image!

Here is Jim on the shores of the famous Lake Louise in Banff. Here maybe you can see that blue green color I was mentioning. That is a glacier at the end of the lake.

Lynda photographed by Jim at Lake Louise.

This is a red squirrel at Lake Louise. I am sure he has been fed a lot by visitors since he is nearly tame & looks healthy, like many of us! :-)

Can you ever get too many shots of Lake Louise? It is probably one of the most photographed lakes in the world. It is obviously beautiful.

This is the Ten Peaks Range nearing Lake Moraine. It is hard to see all ten at once.

This is a Golden Mantled Ground Squirrel, which I learned from the signs near Lake Louise. To me it looks like a chipmonk!

This is Lake Moraine with six peaks of seven possible showing. Note the color of the lake. These lakes are all glacier fed.

Another view of the peaks by Moraine Lake. This end of the lake had a lot of ice. Some of the lake was covered with ice.

This glacier is called Crow's foot Glacier. The feet part are called hanging glaciers.

I think this is a Crow near the Crow's Foot Glacier. How about that! :-)

This is Bow Lake & Bow Glacier. This lake is obviously frozen, but has started to thaw, which gives it this pattern.
It has started to rain, as can be noticed in the photo by the "dots". This is waterfowl Lake with the mountains in the background.

Another Banff Mountain Scene driving north to get to Jasper National Park and the Icefields Parkway. Technically this is probably part of the Icefields Parkway. I think it is called Icefields Parkway because of all the glaciers on the mountains.

Pretty rugged peaks, eh? (I have been in Canada too long- saying eh!) Quite a pretty mountain scene!
Nearly the last mountain scene before we get to Icefields Centre, which is at the beginning of Jasper National Park.
