Prince Ruppert to Hyder, Aug 25-26, 2009

The last leg of our ferry trip was from Ketchikan, Alaska to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Ironically, it rained the whole way! This is a lighthouse we saw on the way. I do not know the name of it.

This is a view of the small boat harbor of Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.

This Skeena River was next to us on Rt 16 all the way to Terrace, where we found a Wal-Mart to spend the night.

It was a beautiful trip with the mountains and the Skeena River. These are the Coast Mountains.

Just another view of the mountains & the river on the way to Meziadin Lake on the Yellowhead Highway.

This is a 150 Yr old Pictograph- Possibly a boundary Marker for Chief Legaic.

More scenic Views of the Skeena River on the Yellowhead Highway.

These are the highway and railroad bridges over the Khyex River.

There were several waterfalls down these steep Coast Mountains.

Jim really liked this view of the "dual waterfalls"!

There was a beautiful scene around every corner! You will notice the low lying cloud indicating lots of moisture in the air.

This is the view from our front window while parked at Terrace, BC, at the Wal-Mart. Not bad, eh? (The price for lodging was right!)

The next morning we traveled about 41 miles west from Terrace, B.C. on Yellowhead Highway (Rt 16) to Cassiar Highway (Rt 37) going north to Stewart & Hyder.

This is still the Skeena River. Snow-capped mountains in the background.
This is a bell tower of St Paul's Anglican Church in the native reserve of Gitwangak.

We arrived at 11 am, and on the recommendation of some RV friends, stayed for one night at Meziadin Provincial Park on the Meziadin Lake. Then we unhooked the Jeep and drove it back across the boarder into Hyder, Alaska to try to see some grizzly bears fishing in the creek. This is the view from our front window of the RV parked in our spot. It is a beautiful campground, but is only dry camping, no connections or services.
