Anchorage to Soldotna of the Kenai Pennisula

When we left Anchorage to go south to the Kenai Pennisula, we decided to camp half way down at Soldotna, about 150 miles. From there, we thought we could drive the Jeep to Homer, Kenai and Seward and keep the coach in the same campground. We stayed at a city of Soldotna Campground called Centenniel. It was right on the Kenai River and cost $16.95 for dry camping. They did have a dump and fresh water to use when leaving.

This is the Seward Highway south of Anchorage which runs along the Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet. That's the water on the right. It is a fascinating road. This turnagain Arm is a bore tide area where the tide can range 33 feet and come in as high as a six foot wave.

This road was very pretty! It was rather misty the morning we drove this raod.

The Alaska-Chugach Passenger Train runs along side the road.

This apparently is a scenic train ride, but no better than our views!

This is Mount Spurr of the Chugach Range. See the cloud covering part of it!

Here is another of the Chugach Range, maybe the King Mountain.

These are the glaciated mountains of the Kenai Range, which we can see at the end of the Turnagain Arm.

Another view of the glaciated mountains of the Kenai.

Here is the end of the Turnagain Arm and the Kenai Mountains.

This is the alpine area of Turnagain Pass. It was pretty and unique. I really liked these alpine areas which were green.

This is a beautiful view of the Kenai Mountains!

This is Lower Summit Lake.

This is the Upper Summit Lake.
