Christmas on Temple Square, Salt Lake City December 2011

It is the day after Christmas but I never get tired of Christmas lights! Well, .... maybe I do get tired of them in July! Ha, Ha! Enjoy these scenes from our "Church Campus"!
This is the Temple from the Joseph Smith Memorial Building; see the horizontal lights above the JSMB door entrance. This nativity scene is on the reflection pool by one side of the temple. The figures are about 4 ft high and maybe about 8 feet long.
Thses lights are on the street to the east of the Conference Center, from North Temple Streeet.
These lights are on the area near the Church Office Building.
These people are walking in front of the reflection pool mentioned earlier. The lights are floats on the water of the pool.
This tree was near the JSMB on South Temple Street.
Thi is another shot of the Temple from the walkway near the Assembly Hall.
Thses colorful trees are in the courtyard of the Conference Center.
These trees are near the walkway of the Conference Center on North Temple Street.
This walkway is on the east side of the Conference Center, maybe North Main Street?
This is another shot of the courtyard near the Church Office Building and Relief Society Building.
This view is from the Conference Center looking toward the JSMB.
Another scene of the Conference Center lights along North Temple Street.
This colorful shot is of the Conference Center courtyard toward the Temple.
Another shot of the same scene.
The fountain is in the middle of the upper courtyard of the Conference Center.
This is the Joseph Smith Memorial Building where we work in the Training Center on the third floor.
Jim is standing beside the Assembly Hall near West Temple Street.
Jim is standing on the courtyard between the Relief Society Building and the Temple.
This is another shot of Jim in that courtyard.
Jim and I are standing near the courtyard between the JSMB and the Relief Society Building and the Church Office Building. That night was very cold-in the twenties!
Jim took this neat photo of the lights reflecting in the JSMB building. Cool, eh!
The round shadow on the right is the Tabernacle.
I am standing near the Assembly Hall as Jim shoots back toward the Temple.
Another shot of the same scene, this show the Tabernacle on the left.
This shot shows the Assembly Hall on the left and the Tabernacle on the right.
This and the next few photos were showing the Assembly Hall lights and are just so beautiful!
The next few shots are of the Temple from different angles.

This is another scene of the Temple from the end of Temple Square with the Tabernacle on the left and the Assembly Hall on the right.
This shows the lights around the Tabernacle.

Fall Scenes from JSMB November 17, 2011

On November 17th, I had my camera at "work" and decided to leave the third floor, where we train, and go to the tenth floor and shoot some fall scenes from the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, formerly Hotel Utah. I wanted to capture a little of the "fall color". The following are what I saw.
These pidgeons love to roost on the ledges of this building. I never realized how pretty pidgeons are!
Look at these iredescent colors!
I know it is only one tree but it is pretty. There is a worktruck & workman on the street 10 stories below.
Here is the famous Salt Lake Temple as seen from the tenth floor.
This scene shows the Tabernacle to the left and the Conference Center in the right background
This is a reflecting pool in the courtyard near the temple. Now you can see some fall color!

This is another view of the courtyard.
This shows some architectural detail on the Temple.
This is a scene looking west on South Temple Street, I think. To the right is Temple Square, with the trees, which are still green.
I do not know what these buildings are but I love them and their character. Note the color on the trees. It may not be the Northeast but I am grateful for any fall color.
Those "character buildings are across the street from this beautiful, modern skyscraper. Look closely to the left.
These next two photos are of the Conference Center, where we have live performance, as well as semiannual conferences where our church leaders deliver great talks for the entire world-wide church.
Lastly, this is a view of the Church Office Building and courtyward. We often eat in the cafeteria in the basement of this building. On Thursdays, they serve a great prime rib for a very modest price. They have lots of other choices in the cafeteria also.
When you see my next blog you will understand why I had to capture these fall photos. We had a short fall season, seeming to go from summer to winter, with only a couple of weeks of fall.
